Been seeing a lot of Nick van Woert’s gloopy latex-ed busts around the tubes recently, and for good reason!

Stalin’s Monument in Prague was the largest sculpture of Joseph Stalin.
It took sculptor Otakar Švec 5½ years to create, and was destroyed 7 years after its unveiling, during the process of de-Stalinization.
Otakar committed suicide 3 weeks before it went on display.
Since then, the statue’s base has been home to a pirate radio station, Prague’s first rock club, & it was used as the base of a 35 foot tall statue of Michael Jackson during his European HIStory tour.
Now a giant metronome sits in Stalin’s place.
